A student can apply to opt out of Phy Ed one time during the student's four years of high school. A formal request (see form below) is given to the School Board documenting the school sponsored activity that will be used to replace the phy ed requirement and the core credit that will take the place of the phy ed class for the upcoming school year.
The core credit must be in Math, Language Arts, Science, or Social Studies and must be an additional .5 credits beyond what is required for graduation.
A student who is opting out of Phy Ed will complete weekly time sheets signed by the coach. Documented minutes of activity must be during organized, in-season, same year, same sport practices or competitions that are supervised by contracted school personnel.
Minutes must meet or exceed the minutes of a semester long physical education class (4410 minutes).
Requests to opt out for the 2024-25 school year are due by January 31, 2024 at 3:30 pm.
